This week Centre Director, Narelle Dewhurst, commenced a series of 3 one day workshops presented by Autism Spectrum Australia, ‘Recipe for Success’. Recipe for Success is a unique autism specific Positive Behaviour Support training aimed at teaching educators the key principles of how to create an autism friendly environment.

This valuable information will be brought back to St Anne’s and shared with the educators who are including children with autism in their programs.

Henny Penny Hatching is an educational program bringing an incubator, 14 fertile eggs, 3 day old chicks and a brooding pen for the hatching and growing chicks to explore as they gain their strength feeding and drinking.

It has delighted children and parents alike!

St Anne’s Long Day Care Centre has celebrated their one year anniversary with cake, balloons and a gift for every child. St Anne’s Centre Director, Mrs Narelle Dewhurst attributes the success of the Centre to their child care partnership programmes.

Narelle Dewhurst, Centre Director explains when Early Childhood Educators and Parents are in partnership there is a sharing of knowledge that ensures each child’s learning and experiences are meaningful, which underpins the success of St Anne’s.

“Our early childhood programmes are developed by our teachers and carers and support and enhance the child’s growth focusing on learning, relationships and social connections,” said Narelle.

However the secret to the success of the programme is the skills, qualifications and experience of the staff at St Anne’s.

“I have an exceptional team who are huge contributors to the confidence parents have in the service and our care of their children,” said Narelle.

Narelle said that early childhood is a vital period in a child’s learning and development and accordingly, the Centre has provided an environment that is stimulating, nurturing and welcoming for children, parents and staff.

“We communicate and liaise closely with our Parents exchanging information on each child as they grow and develop,” said Narelle.

The beautiful, modern environment with 5 playrooms for age grouping the children, is located at Skennars Head, and started operating at the end of January 2010.

St Anne’s Long Day Care Centre is licensed by Community Services under the Children’s Services Regulation 2004 and complies with Government requirements to receive Child Care Benefits on behalf of families using the centre.
